Monitoring relays are scheduling and failure preventive equipment used to maintain electrical networks. These relays are used to verify the safe operating conditions of a power system or the protective system. These relays are used to limit the consequences of faults by offering protection from operating failures that can result in expensive repairs and often non-repairable damage.
What are monitoring applications?
Both electrical and non-electrical variables in different AC and DC system and device applications can be monitored using monitoring relays. The different applications for which monitoring relays are used include monitoring electrical variables like single and three phase current and voltage monitoring, insulation resistance for ungrounded DC and AC voltage networks, motor load or power factor monitoring and non-electrical variables like fill level monitoring, speed monitoring, etc.
